Intense Carbine 275 Foundation Bike
With legions of riders singing the praises of the 27.5" wheel platform, the Intense Carbine 275 is destined to draw in the multitudes with its exceptional design and functionality. The 27.5" wheel size offers the best of both worlds with its ability to clear obstacles in a way that is reminiscent of the 29er platform, plus an added knack for quick handling and agility that will keep 26" devotees satisfied as well. The production of the Carbine frame is a result of a collaboration between Intense and German engineering firm, SEED. Intense sought out SEED to tap into their expansive expertise in carbon fiber manufacturing, for a bike that Intense designer, Jeff Steber, considers the best of two worlds: American design and German Engineering. The result of this collaboration is a bicycle that is exceptionally precise, dialed, and beautiful yet packed with all the snarl, shred, and attitude Intense is known for.
When Intense decided to venture into 27.5" territory, designer Jeff Steber figured out that with a simple dropout change Intense could morph their incredibly popular Carbine 26" in a 27.5" frame. This transformation is made possible by Intense's G1 replaceable dropout system. The G1 is featured on all of Intense frames and offers flexible future compatibility and accommodation of different axle choices. After an initial test run with the swapped dropouts, Intense continued to refine the Carbine 275, leading to a bike that is far more than a conversion, but a full-blown dedicated 27.5" frame with proper travel and aggressive 27.5" geometry.
The Carbine 27.5 boasts aggressive geometry, patented VPP suspension, all the design benefits of Intense 2nd generation INTENSE carbon fiber, and a sleek, modern look that screams Intense. Designed to allow riders to descend the roughest enduro tracks with confidence, the bike boasts 5.5 inches (adjustable to 6") of rear wheel travel via the X-Fusion 02 RL rear shock, and 160mm of travel up front courtesy of the X-Fusion Sweep RL2.
The Foundation build of the Carbine 275 aims to widen the reach of the Intense family. A more budget-conscious build kit, the Foundation keeps costs down while still maintaining a high standard of performance and durability. A SRAM S1000 triple crankset, SRAM PC-1031 10 speed chain, and Shimano HG62-10 cassette form the bones of the drivetrain and a combination of SRAM X7 and X9 components keeps shifting performance smooth and reliable. Avid DB-3 hydraulic disc brakes provide all the braking power needed to stop at a moment's notice. Sun Ringle Inferno 27 rims laced to Speed Tuned hubs keep you rolling fast and Kenda Negeval 2.35" tires offer substantial grip when cornering and climbing. An Intense branded, alloy cockpit puts the finishing touches on this stellar build for a ride that's ready to push the limits all day long.
