Rides > Old Skool Dean Colonel Titanium
posted 15 years ago
My Dean is a late 90s model. I recently ordered the Green Panel decal set from Dean USA to match the green Manitou R7 Platinum 80mm fork. Whilst I was at it, I also bought the Lime Green Jagwire housing kit for the brakes and derailleurs.
Because it is somewhat old skool, the chain stay clearance is not so great and so I am running 26 x 1.8 Maxxis Hard Drive tyres. I can go up to 26x2.0 like my previous Racing Ralphs but anything bigger will simply clog with mud. The 1.8s can be quite scary over rocks especially if it is pumped up too much.
The full set up is as follows:
Dean Colonel [1998 or 1999] - About 1.5kg or 1.6 kg
Stem, handlebar and seat post are brand-less ones [but still not cheap! haha] from Taiwan from Tays.
Seat is Velo [model unknown] weighing about 220g.
Headset is Cane Creek S8.
Grips are Titec Pork Rhines
Combo shifters are XTR M952
V Brake XTR M950 front and M952 rear
Manitou R7 Platinum 80mm Fork [about 1.3 kg]
Front Dee XT M770
Rear Dee XTR M952
Crankset M952 with original BB [purchased from previous owner who removed it from her Gary Fisher in 2002/2003 after 50km only! It has all the original stickers. The whole crankset looked as if they just arrived from the factory].
XTR M952 hubs with Mavic 217 rims and DT Swiss spokes.
Jagwire housing and cables
A2Z skewers
Crankbros Candy SL pedals
Maxxis Hard Drive tyres [470g]

10 Kgs
